An Unexpected Musical Jewel
I am IN LOVE with La La Land! Last month, I had lunch with one of my past piano students and her mom at Urth Caffe Pasadena, and they were telling me how unique and enchanting the movie-musical is. I had never been a fan of Ryan Gosling, have not seen much of Emma Stone's movies, and have always been skeptical of actors belting out a good tune. Therefore, I wasn't too ecstatic to check out the movie. I was however, curious about it, because that particular student whom I had lunch with has always been an inspiration to me.
Just last weekend, my husband and I decided to chill at home and watch a few movies. We included La La Land just so I could get it out of my head, and I have to say I was blown away. The beginning part does fool people a bit. It starts out typical, cheesy, and almost without imagination; but as the plot thickens, I can't help but fall in love with everything. The characters, story, dreams, reality, singing, music, romance, and the bittersweet feeling of sacrifice are to die for!
Whenever I listen to these songs, I can't help but fall in love with the story again.
